At Jabal, hospitality begins the moment coffee is poured. Starting this month, every table can request our live Qahwa experience — a short, unhurried ritual where your host guides you through roasting green beans over open heat, grinding them by hand, and brewing them with cardamom in a traditional dallah, before you pour for your table yourself.
It's more than a drink. It's a gesture of welcome rooted in generations of Saudi tradition, and we wanted to bring it out from behind the scenes and into your hands.
Step | What You Do | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
1. Roasting | Lightly roast green beans tableside, guided by your host | Fresh roasting releases the coffee's signature mild, aromatic character |
2. Grinding | Hand-grind the beans with cardamom pods | Cardamom is central to the flavor of authentic Saudi qahwa |
3. Brewing | Simmer the grounds slowly in a dallah | Slow brewing draws out warmth without bitterness |
4. Pouring | Pour for your table in small finjan cups, right-hand first, as is custom | Preserves the etiquette and hospitality at the heart of the ritual |
Ask your server to add the Qahwa experience to your table — no extra charge for parties of two or more.
